Lounge suit dress code

What shall I wear?!

Have a do tonight and presumed lounge meant casual but have Googled and it suggests a gown! Shit!

Any advice? Is a gown strictly necessary?

No, not a long 'gown'. Just a 'cocktail dress' - otherwise known as a smart party dress, or LBD!

Adviceplease8181 · 25/01/2019 17:09

LBD it is! Thank you.

Glad you could sort it OP but you've got me chuckling at the idea of loads of people milling around in loungewear! Grin

GnothiSeafton · 25/01/2019 17:31

I think you might have the wrong end of the stick, flugelhorn811. And I hope I'm not preaching, but a 'lounge suit' for men is a smart suit plus a tie must be worn. When the OP saw the word 'gown' that implied to her a full length smart party dress.

Loungewear is something completely different - probably only worn in your own home!!

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 25/01/2019 18:12

I think flugelhorn was referring to the op thinking loung meant casual when in fact it is actually smart.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 25/01/2019 18:13

lounge

GnothiSeafton · 25/01/2019 18:18

Yes, me too. But dress codes are fraught with problems! Particularly if one isn't familiar with them!

flugelhorn811 · 25/01/2019 19:09

@GnothiSeafton I did realise that - and as @LooksBetterWithAFilter says, I was referring to OP's reference to casual wear.

Adviceplease8181 · 26/01/2019 20:53

Wore an LBD with black tights and boots. Had a fantastic night and very relieved I didn’t rock up in a velour suit or a ball gown.

Thanks!
