What I'd like to know is, where is the smell coming from - and what is the smell? And why does the writer have to apologise - what did they do? Apart from making a mess of the car Grin

I know! And I'm a bit worried that the owner will feel lost without their to-do list. I always panic when I lose mine.

I think they're apologizing about messing up the car. Maybe that's where the smell originated?

Nice writing though!

Upon further reflection, I think a woman has written this for her male DP/DH. The to-do list, while written in the third person, is for him. He made a mess of her car and must apologize as well as getting on with the DIY. Maybe a bit sexist but fixing speakers, shelves, etc. is sort of a guy thing?

In the first person

I was thinking that too, Agnostic - but dared not mention it!

Some years ago, before we could post photos on here, I started a thread about a shopping list (which, of course, we had to describe in detail back then). I simply suggested that it looked like a woman's handwriting. A male MNer jumped onto the thread accusing me of being sexist by implying that men aren't capable of writing shopping lists. I did calmly reply to him that I simply thought the handwriting looked more like a woman's than a man's!

The car owner's name, which had to be redacted, was gender-neutral. We could of course be dealing with two women, but not two men (the tampons).
