Does everyone know about the government backed help to save scheme if you’re on a low incone

Basically the government gives you 50 p for every £1 you save up to £50 a month over a 4 year period

You need to be on a low incone, uc or working tax credit

By my reckoning, £2400 is the max you can save, so you’d get £1200 after four years

Sounds too good to be true

It's either so everyone has their money where it can be monitored, or another announcement will be made, about it meaning that you're not going to be eligible for certain other things.

It is too good to be true, like buying your own council house was. There must be an agenda.

It's supposed to encourage saving.

As per usual, it is just for people on benefits.

It might help someone..if you don’t know about it, it won’t help anyone

This has come up before. It divides opinion. Personally I work full time and couldn't save £50 a month so I don't see how somebody on benefits could do so.

MyFriendGoo5 · 25/01/2019 11:35

It's for people on working tcs too so I'm guessing people who don't earn much. I think It's a good idea.

BitchQueen90 · 25/01/2019 11:38

Madison it's for EMPLOYED people who get working tax credits. People who are struggling.

MotherOfMinions · 25/01/2019 12:00

I'd be worried about government's motive for doing this. They hate giving money to poor people and I can see them using this scheme as an excuse to cut benefits somehow
