4 yr old DD fallen out of bed

She fell out about 30 minutes ago, cried immediately but insisted she hadn’t hurt anything and is now fast asleep in my bed. She seems fine but I can’t sleep for worrying and watching her now and don’t know if I’m ok to just let her sleep.

Injury is very unlikely indeed.

However with my children falling out of bed was always a warning sign that they were ill and usually was followed by something grim like exploding at both ends.

Unless it's a very high bed, it's unlikely to be a problem. My own DC have fallen out several times over the years without injury. I was also the terrible parent whose baby fell off the (fortunately very low) bed when my back was turned.

Unless it was a top bunk or she fell on her head fast on a stone floor (really hard to fall out of bed fast!) I'm sure she's fine. You'll feel happier for sleeping next to her though :)

Thanks for talking some sense into me Grin she’s clearly fine - flat out now.
It’s just a normal single bed and she’s got lovely thick carpet so I’m sure hasn’t done any damage.
Think I’m more bothered about why she’s fallen, she’s always been a fidget in bed but has been in this bed for a few months and was in a toddler bed for 18 months before it and never fell out before

Hi OP, my DS1 is 4.5yrs. He fell out of bed last week and apart from a bump to his shin from bashing into his bedside table he was fine and went straight back to sleep and was laughing when he told his dad in the morning. He scared the crap out of me screaming though.

DH once fell out of bed in the middle of the night. It happens. It probably doesn’t signify anything at all! Hope she has a good rest of the night Smile

My seven year old falls out of bed at least once a week, he’s a wriggler. His sister, aged three, have never fallen out. We’ve got wooden floors and he’s never hurt himself, I’ve taught him just to get back in so now I hear a thump, sigh, and then him shuffling around.

My 2 year old fell out of the bed a few weeks ago. Still not sure how she managed it. She was in our bed in the middle and somehow fell out the bottom of the bed! She was fine.

I've got a DS with sleep disorders...we have had many fall out of bed incidents. No serious damage although several black eyes when he has fallen awkwardly...(or walked into a door while sleep walking)...
