I would and have done. The difference is minimal in real terms.

Check how many battery cycles it’s had...to see if been used a lot

Yes definitely worth it..the difference is minimal . John Lewis are also very good with their own warranty...I've bought several macbooks from them (mac household due to needing Logic Pro) ..only one has ever needed fixing and it still lived 9 years!
