What would you do? (jobwise)

After a year of complete drought in the job seeking world I managed to land 5 interviews in a week... Not only that but an old civil service job is now available and has been offered to me. I'm still waiting to hear from a very good managerial role and a project manager role.

So here are my options, take the civil service job (better bird in hand) although it's a 1hr commute and salary is 20k. Take an entry level job in a company I would love to work at but pays 18k, wait and see if the project manager role materialises (but that might take some time) which would be 30k,
Or have to contracts for freelancing that add up to close to 26k. Of course there's no job security in the latter and that's its biggest downside. If a miracle happen I might get the 40k job at the university, but I won't know til next week, and thus all of this would be academic (no pun intended).

Congratulations OP! It’s nice to have options. Is the 18k job more attractive (money aside) than the 20k job? Is it a shorter commute, better prospects? If so I’d take it and wait to hear from the management job.

(Or hopefully a 40k role)

I think commute would be about the same, although I would most certainly have to drive rather than use the train and that would definitely add up.... It sounds like a dream company to me (semi start up in a field that I love). They know I'm overqualified , but they'd rather have me now and grow with them. The DWP on the other hand would have a good pension scheme and I would assume I'd have that job for life. The plan would be to climb the ladder.
