Sorry, I do this far too much!

I made a massive chilli on a Monday. Asked DH to save the leftovers thinking he would put them in the freezer. Realised on Thursday that he'd put them in the fridge in the garage so put them straight in the freezer.

Want to defrost it for the kids tonight but now worried that it was in the fridge too long - I normally stick to 2 days but this was 3.

What do you think?

Can't imagine why this riveting thread isn't getting more responses Grin

Wouldn’t bother me. I’d happily eat chilli that had been in the fridge for a week.

If it’s been properly chilled and you reheat it thoroughly it’ll be absolutely fine.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 24/01/2019 16:30

It will be fine! I often leave chilli in a pan in the cool kitchen for a couple of days before thoroughly re-heating.

Three days in the fridge will be absolutely not an issue.

KittensAndCake · 24/01/2019 16:38

Yep, I'd eat it

PleaseJustSayNo · 24/01/2019 16:40

Have eaten chilli left in the fridge way longer than that and not died yet (or even felt unwell)

CrispbuttyNo1 · 24/01/2019 16:42

I’m a chef and it will be absolutely fine if it has been kept at 5deg or less since Monday

Thanks!
