Post GCSE celebrations - what did your dc do?

Just wondering and looking for sensible and realistic ideas.

DS and his mates want to do something/go away somewhere after the exams but due to their age (ds won't be 16 until the July and is the youngest of their group) I'm not sure what will be feasible.

What celebrations did your dcs have after their exams?

... went home? Was pleased? I didn't realise celebrations were a thing. Did my GCSE's 9 years ago

Blobby10 · 24/01/2019 14:10

Same here - all 3 of mine just came home. Didn't go on holidays or anything either -none of them had any money Grin . This was 7, 5 and 3 years ago.

louiseaaa · 24/01/2019 14:19

Neither of mine did anything big like at trip. They all went in a group to a theme park. That was all

I got very drunk. I wouldn't advise it. I thought holidays etc were for after A levels, when you wouldn't be going back to school or seeing your school mates again.

differenteverytime · 24/01/2019 15:43

Went to a beach party and came home a bit drunk. Nothing like holidays until after A levels.

sue51 · 24/01/2019 15:46

House party and sleep over.

Sillybilly1234 · 24/01/2019 15:48

Leeds Festival

Lollicent · 24/01/2019 15:53

Mine got on a train and went to the Reading festival. He had a brilliant time and wants to go again this year.

Lollicent · 24/01/2019 15:53

Also a July birthday.

Comefromaway · 24/01/2019 15:54

Dd went into 2 weeks of intensive rehearsals for a dance show!

We went to the park and got so wasted I woke up under a tree with three mates in the morning holding a number plate...

Hopefully DD doesn't do that Blush

Fiddie · 24/01/2019 17:18

Reading festival. It's a rite of passage.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/01/2019 17:21

Took a few ciders and disposable bbqs to a country park about a 3 mile walk from school, and had a huge picnic with his friendship group. We picked him up when the park closed in the evening.

ShalomJackie · 24/01/2019 17:21

Straight on the bus down to Reading Festival

ProfessionallyUnoffended · 24/01/2019 17:23

DD went to a house party and sleepover...thankfully not our house! That, and school prom was enough I think. I don't recall doing anything but that was back in the dark ages!

O4FS · 24/01/2019 17:24

Leeds is the day after (or the day of) results isn’t it?

Think DS1 came home after his last exam. They don’t all finish at the same time. Some have parties. I am never hosting and end of exam party. Ever.

StartedEarly · 24/01/2019 17:30

Year 11 Prom and after party.
They did a trip with friends after A levels when they were all 18.

Reading festival

Hen2018 · 24/01/2019 17:49

Presumably took lots of drugs as that’s how he spent most of year 11 (he’s ok now)

Leeds2 · 24/01/2019 17:59

Went up to London with friends for an afternoon in Camden.

themagicamulet · 24/01/2019 18:07

Reading festival on results day. A few days away by the sea with friends after the actual exams, loosely supervised by the set of parents whose holiday house it was.

Aragog · 24/01/2019 18:07

DD finished hers last year. Think she was just relieved. Not much really went on afterwards.

A handful went to Leeds Festival, another group went to another local music festival. Most didn't. None went on a teens only holiday.

There was the Y11 prom a couple of weeks after the end of DD's exams.

DD went away with my mum to visit her great grandparents for the week - her choice. She went to prom. She had a couple for sleepovers with a small group of friends. We took her to London for a treat weekend.

For the most part she did some school based work experience in June/July.

We went on a family holiday in the summer.
