Help!! Presents for 6 year old girls

ChrisjenAvasarala · 24/01/2019 10:54

My son is going to a birthday party this weekend and another next weekend. Both for girls. Both turning 6.

I have no idea what to get. Everything is pink! Is that ok? Or should I avoid pink and dolls?

I've never met either of the girls or parents so no insight there. Don't want to spend loads. Any ideas?

Lol dolls, hama beads, aqua beads, craft kits are all good for that age

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 24/01/2019 11:05

LOL dolls are popular
Making kits (slime, bath bombs)

pinkandstripey · 24/01/2019 11:07

Smiggle stuff. I usually buy a (in the sale) smiggle pencil case, then go to paper tiger for sequin notebooks/smelly pencils...

Anything with slime :-)

SweetheartNeckline · 24/01/2019 11:08

My go to gifts depending on budget - LOL dolls, slime making, Lego (especially Lego Friends), a set of felt tips and/or gel pens or £5 in a card.

6 year olds are 6 year olds really, just get them what you think your son would enjoy. Slime, science kits, Lego sets. Or if in doubt a nice notebook and pens covers most eventualities.

BiscuitDrama · 24/01/2019 11:12

At that age I’ve done books, games, craft kits, Hama bead kits.

NorthEndGal · 24/01/2019 11:16

Dress up stuff (floppy hat/cowboy hat/cape)
Crafting kits
Play doh sets

ChrisjenAvasarala · 24/01/2019 11:18

Thank you. I was thinking books, but worried it was a rubbish present. At my son's party, we got 8 of the same Ben 10 action figures so I think LOL dolls etc might be a dangerous choice incase she gets multiples.

Dress up is a fun idea! But I think books and some sparkly craft stuff.

OP LOL dolls are bought "blind" (you don't know what you'll get) so there is a risk of a duplicate but it is part of the fun iykwim.

What you've chosen sounds lovely and very generous!

ChrisjenAvasarala · 24/01/2019 11:46

Oh, I had no idea they were in blind bags! Well that's annoying for parents. Imaginext and Lego blind bags are only £4 but LOL dolls are more than double that! I had no idea but now I'm glad I don't have kids who want LOL dolls!

Beanie Boos (little cuddly toys)
fashion/princess doll of some kind
book

buckeejit · 24/01/2019 12:13

My dd 5 is recently into lol dolls-I tend to buy moon balls & notebooks & sweets for presents, or I bulk bought some fab parachute silk frisbees a while ago which go in!

ARandomPoster · 24/01/2019 12:13

I have an almost 6 year old. I would cry if she received slime kits, so many of my furnishings have been ruined by my children and slime over the last 18 months.

She would love stationary, Lego, craft kits. Money would be appreciated. A voucher for Waterstones or whsmiths would also go down well. As would a voucher for our local supermarket as it is the shop she visits most often and is often attracted to the books/stationary/toys and clothes in there.

Burpsandfustles · 24/01/2019 21:38

Def not dolls, definalty play dough sets, craft sets, djeco kits.. Sticker books (usborne) etc

Passmethecrisps · 24/01/2019 21:41

I bought a few galt science kits for my 6 year old’s pals this year. Rainbow crystals and the like. She coveted them hugely.

Standard gift is as mentioned already. Fancy wee pens, Lego, craft stuff etc

Redyoyo · 24/01/2019 21:53

My 6 year old loves anything unicorn and squishy!

Equimum · 24/01/2019 22:45

For girls I tend to buy:
Craft sets
Stationary bits
Lego Friends

Toseland · 24/01/2019 22:49

A sparkly bag like this www.marksandspencer.com/kids-sequin-phone-bag/p/p60220049?prevPage=plp

Blankiefan · 24/01/2019 22:59

For that age, I buy Stomp Rockets. Dd loves them. (As do me and DH). You can get a dueling set so you have competitions.
They go impressively high . Great outside toy - even when it's cold.

ecuse · 24/01/2019 23:00

Lego!
