Sofa bed comfortable for everyday use as a sofa?

I sometimes have overnight guests at my small London flat, so am looking to buy a sofa bed but one which can also be used as an everyday sofa. In the past I bought a foam one which wasn't very firm and which wore out quickly and also a sprung one which was uncomfortable because the bed mechanism was hard and uncomfortable. That was some years ago, so I was wondering if they had improved and if anyone could offer me the benefit of their experience/recommendations, pretty please?

We have the IKEA friheten. It's quite firm but I really like it and very cosy with lots of cushions on. Fantastic sofa bed too, really comfy.

We've got one from John Lewis, I can't remember what it's called. It's a two seater (they do three seaters as well) and it cost us £1,500 so quite a lot, but it's lovely and comfy as both a sofa and as a bed.

Ikea Friheten here as well.

I bought a lovely mattress topper to go on it as well and it is very comfy.

Thanks very much for the prompt replies. I have just looked at the Ikea Friheten on line and I see that it has storage as well, assuming it is the same version, which would be really useful. Is it easy to convert into a bed and do you use it as an everyday sofa? Because the flat is small the sofa needs to be an everyday sofa. What colour did you choose and how often do you use it as a bed?

Yes it is very easy to convert the bottom bit just pulls out.

We don't use it as an everyday sofa, it is in the kids gamesroom but it is used quite a lot. I think it is quite comfy. If you are near Ikea, I would go and try it out first. Ours is brown.

My DH sleeps on it quite a lot as sometimes he works silly shifts so sleeps on there so he doesn't disturb me. He finds it ok. My MIL also slept on it for two weeks over Xmas and it was fine.

Thanks South, it sounds just what I am looking for. I have also been looking at some on line videos about it and it looks ideal.
