Do you use hairspray daily or just on special occasions?

I feel my hair gets rat tailed, scraggly, frizzy and messy within a few hours. In the morning, it looks really good just after I've brushed it but terrible within 2 hours (as if I've been through a hurricane)..

So just wondering, do people use hairspray daily to keep things in place or only on special occasions? Does it work to keep hair neat and frizz-free?

What hairspray do you use that works? Do you wash it out every evening? I only wash my hair after several days (as very thick hair so doesn't get oily) so worried about effects of chemical build up too.

Most days yes, if I remember. It keeps the style longer but can make it look like it needs a wash quicker than I’d like.

I didn't realise it was a common thing for people to wear hairspray to be honest!

I used to use it for work twenty years ago. We had to. It was the rules! Nowadays only for fancy dress parties.

I use it about 3 times a year. Tbh, I really like my hair when I use it but I'm lazy and forget unless I'm going somewhere fancy.

I wash and dry my hair every morning and then use hairspray, it annoys me if I don't as it falls forward over my eyes.

My hair is so floppy and pathetic i would look even worse without hairspray. I think I’m in a minority though when I look at the others at work. They all have thick full beautify hair though. My hair is thin, rats tails and limp!

Frizz-ease?

Mine gets frizzy and "big" a few hours post drying with even the suggestion of humidity in the air; a little hair oil smoothed on works wonders rather than hairspray (sometimes use that too) and doesn't make it greasy.

Thanks for all the answers so far - seems to be mixed responses :)

Just special occasions like when my hair is far to greasy to do anything with 😂 (I let this happen)

dementedpixie · 24/01/2019 22:30

I just use it on my fringe

Whothere · 24/01/2019 22:31

I haven’t used hairspray since the 80s.

Depends on what type of hair people have and what type of style people choose.
I have very straight fine hair, with no ‘body’, which would not hold any style for more than an hour without hairspray. So when it was long and I had to wear it ‘up’ for work, I didn’t need spray. Now it’s short and ‘styled’ I use a hot brush every morning and spray to keep it in place.

I wear it every day because my hair is very short and it helps it stay where I want it without needing to weigh the hair down too much with other styling products. When my hair was long I didn't bother with hair spray.
