Someone just sent me a play list with “If you leave” on it. I’d forgotten all about that song so I went to look for some more OMD on iTunes. SO many good songs that I had forgotten about that they did. I remember my Dad saying they were shit, and they’d be no good “live”. He was probably right about that but they did some great songs ❤️

Oh no, they were amazing live! I saw them on an 80's cruise weekend last October and they were the best of the whole line up 😁 They were really into it and very funny between songs.

They did a Q&A the morning before too and seemed really pleasant and witty.

SilkandSteel · 23/01/2019 13:18

They were, and still are, amazing live

CarolDanvers · 23/01/2019 13:18

Oh that sounds brilliant. I’d have loved that Smile

Fantastic band!

JeffJarrett · 23/01/2019 13:27

It was amazing! Best weekend ever Smile

They said they were doing a 40th anniversary tour this year in the Q&A, I'd definitely recommend tickets, I'll absolutely be seeing them again!

I saw them at the Hammersmith Apollo, or whatever it was called then , back in the 80’s. They were v good.

I've just started listening to them again after hearing 'messages' and thinking oh I remember my dad playing this and oh it's actually really good.

StillMedusa · 27/01/2020 22:28

I was dumped (aged 14) to 'Joan of Ark' Still can't hear that song without feelings of rage!!! Grin (but yes OMD were great!)

BringMeTea · 27/01/2020 22:31

Yes. Yes they were. No duff songs. Stood the test of time.

LowbrowVictoriana · 27/01/2020 22:32

Ah, Enola Gay is my favourite 80s song, storming tune and clever ambiguous lyrics.
And I had a crush on Andy because he looked so nerdy with his tank top when everyone else was post punk/ new wave/ new romantic and wore eyeliner then (the men, I mean).

Willow2017 · 27/01/2020 22:34

They were and still are😁

xsquared · 27/01/2020 22:37

Speaking of Enola Gay, Andy really reminds me of Neville Longbottom in that video.

Enola Gay, is a timeless , albeit overplayed, classic and they had plenty of songs that were just as good.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2020 22:41

Love them!

Khione · 27/01/2020 22:45

brill group

Fun fact, Julia Tobin, who appeared in Maid of Orleans video, was also in the video for Drop the Pilot by Joan Armatrading, as well as being in the TV show, Auf Weidersehen, Pet.

bizzers · 28/01/2020 15:04

I still love them! Talking Loud and Clear is still one of the loveliest songs to exist, IMO.
