Can you please tell me about your role in some detail if possible?

I'm after a change of career, and have seen a couple of these roles advertised very locally to me and I'm interested Smile however I've done the same role for the last 13 years and I'm so low in confidence and it feels like such a big thing to move on that I'm terrified of applying and being laughed out of the interview Grin

I'm educated to degree level (law) and currently a retail manager. I'm hoping that my degree would be enough and that my skills as retail manager transferable but any information anyone could give me would be great!

I am - if you want to PM me with questions I'll try to help. Although if it's any help, I wasn't in schools first either IYSWIM; moved from non-public service role.

I’m not but work very closely with the sbm at the school I work at.
He spends a lot of his time doing accounts. Budgeting for the school. Also lots of general admin type tasks that the other staff don’t do because it’s not in their job descriptions! Such as putting a hook in the wall for a fire blanket as it wasn’t getting done.
He deals with recruitment. Also dealing with workmen and contractors. Gdpr and health and safety.
It may be that his role covers much more as it’s a small school in comparison to many others but he works much longer hours than his contracted ones but that does seem to be a lot by choice as well as being busy.

@Blastandbollocks I will write a list of questions and PM you this morning, thank you so much for that Smile

@UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter that's mostly what I was expecting I think, and some extras I hadn't thought of. Thank you Smile
