How much do you go out socially in the evening?

I haven't been out in the evening since before Christmas. I have no desire to and love hermitting

Is this normal?! I feel like I've become very boring as I have no desire to go out, but perhaps it'll come back when it's not cold and dark outside

Just wondering how much other people go out with friends in the evening

I haven’t been out for years. I have a baby to look after so I can’t. Otherwise I’d be out 2-3 times a week doing hobbies or having a meal etc.

Thecrown3 · 22/01/2019 21:10

I tend to dismiss the big nights out in central London now (as I work there all day an don’t want to go out there too) I’d rather have a couple of friends over for nice meal or takeaway or go out to dinner- I’m only 44!!!
Think it could be age/experience/time of year too.
I can’t bear night trains/buses home anymore either!

NiteFlights · 22/01/2019 21:11

As little as humanly possible without offending anyone.

megletthesecond · 22/01/2019 21:12

I last went out in 2015 (LP).

Pooshy · 22/01/2019 21:27

Ok glad it's not just me! I also don't like to have to travel for more that one bus ride/ 10 min cab ride and hate going out into London

I go "out" out (excluding exercise) about once every 6 weeks.

HTKS · 22/01/2019 21:30

I like to have things coming up and to look forward to. Tend to go out about once a week ish, sometimes more or less. Generally stay local though.

NorthEndGal · 22/01/2019 21:30

In the summer, I am often out and about in the evening, we got lots when its warm.
This time of year, I host as often as possible, so I dont have to be the one going out in the snow Blush

wendz86 · 22/01/2019 21:31

Probably about once every 3 weeks although quite happy to stay in when its so cold.

BTWifiwithFON · 22/01/2019 21:32

Once a week I go to local gigs on my own. I’ve always loved live alternative music and I’ve made some great friends there. Rest of the week I’m in bed as early as possible.

Whatdoyouknowwhenyouknownowt · 22/01/2019 21:33

We don't go out in the evening, can't remember the last time. But we don't have friends we socialise with locally. Not sure it would make much difference though.

HundredMilesAnHour · 22/01/2019 21:34

I live in central London and when I was younger, I used to be out every night. These days (I'm late 40s) I really can't be bothered. I'd rather meet for brunch or lunch or even breakfast. And I hate crowded places (so that rules out most of London lol!) I used to love squeezing into some sweaty club on a Sun night. Now I like to be home before it gets dark and have a nice evening on the sofa. So that's home by 4pm in winter ha ha. I will drag myself out in the evening to meet people I really really like but it's better if I go straight out from work rather than going home first and then being expected to go out.

underneaththeash · 22/01/2019 21:39

I'm usually out about twice a week. I get bored staying in watching TV.

MadeForThis · 22/01/2019 21:42

I've 2 under 3. Haven't been out for a proper night out since I was pregnant with no1.

Have been out for the odd early evening meal tho. Well once in the last year.

letsdolunch321 · 22/01/2019 21:42

After the working day is done, no going out for me, it is good to chillat home with fleecy throws and the heating on full.

blue25 · 22/01/2019 21:47

Once or twice a week. I feel like I'm wasting my life away if I just stay in and watch TV & it makes me depressed.

It does take more effort at this time of year but I feel so much happier after I've been out.

Feckitall · 22/01/2019 21:49

My Wheely bin goes out more than me!

VioletCharlotte · 22/01/2019 21:50

As little as possible! I go out to yoga and various other classes, but I just don't enjoy meals or drinks out anymore. Especially in the winter!

ashtrayheart · 22/01/2019 21:52

A lot less since I stopped drinking about 18 months ago, as I’m naturally quite introverted sober!
I do like going out but only occasionally and there has to be a purpose now, I’m not interested in loud crowded pubs any more.

Asta19 · 22/01/2019 22:00

I went out a lot when I was younger but now hardly ever. I seem to have become quite sensitive to noise and most bars and restaurants are noisy. I’m also a smoker so, especially in winter, it’s a pita to have to go outside to smoke. The last few nights out I’ve been on haven’t been as much fun as I thought they would be either. So all in all I’m happy to just not bother now. I’m enjoying being a hermit!

It is funny though how a couple of pp have mentioned staying home and watching TV being boring. Um, you do realise there’s other things you can do indoors aside from watching TV?

CherryPavlova · 22/01/2019 22:04

Not very often. 5-6 times a month for meals or cinema/theatre with friends orvat their houses. once a month with my husband in London to a show or nice restaurant. Then maybe a couple of meals out with family and two book club evenings. A village event every couple of months - wine tasting, music evening, dance, swpquare dance etc.
I can’t cope with more than two late nights in a row!

StillMedusa · 22/01/2019 22:27

Rarely. I meet up with my Mum and brother in London once a month as he lives there and we just visit museums and galleries together.
One friend, about 4 times a year. Other than that I try not to!!!!

I managed one Xmas do and that was enough Grin

I like to be in my pjs by 7pm chilling!
