Children and advertisements

We have only ever watched CBeebies at home, but recently my DH has been putting Milkshake on during the weekend mornings and sometimes DD will watch Tiny Pop or other children's channels at GP's house.

I asked DH not to let DCs watch Milkshake over the Xmas period as DD was asking for every toy being advertised. I did feel pressure to buy certain toys because of this but then decided to stick to my gut feeling and buy the gifts we had originally planned on giving.

I have explained to DD (who is nearly 4 yo ) that adverts are asking us to buy toys and the real way to decide what toys you like are to see them in real life at a toy shop.

Do you let your young DC watch adverts? Have you felt pressured to buy toys for your DC because of adverts?
