Just slipped on the ice, any advice please?

I slipped on the ice about 15 mins and have just walked back home. I landed on the top part of my bottom which now hurts and is red and I've got a bump come up on my wrist. On the way back, I felt really faint and sick, I guess through shock as I know I didn't hit my head.

Anyone got any advice please.

Thanks. Yes, I've just walked back home.

I knew it was icy and was being careful, but somehow just went.

Wear your grippiest shoes with rubber soles, and lots of padding - long cardi and coat - to protect falls. That's what I do when it's icy.

You can get concussion without hitting your head if it's a really hard fall. If you continue to feel dizzy/sick, I would ring 111 for advice.

I felt faint and sick a few minutes after falling over in the garden and breaking my elbow. Didn’t know I had broken it but knew something wasn’t right and went to A&E

bump on your wrist - does it hurt if you turn your arm?
if yes it might be broken = a&e or minor injuries for an x-ray

Feeling faint and sick can sometimes be a sign of injury like a break especially if you have a lump. Is the skin around it mottled? Like patchy white/red/pink in colour. Try to just rest and get a cold compress on it and if no better go get checked. Hope you are ok x

I agree with PP, feeling sick and faint soon after a fall is a sign of a broken bone. I suspect you may have a broken wrist. Get checked over.

You poor thing, something like that can really leave you shaken. If your wrist has an actual lump on it then it may well be broken. Can you move it normally? Other than that have a hot sweet drink and sit down for a bit, you'll feel better soon.

Hi, thanks for your replies everyone.

Luckily the lump on my wrist has just about gone and I can move it. I've pulled my muscles on both sides of my bottom and it hurts half way up my back now, but I suppose that's what you'd expect. It hurts to sit down and slighly bend, but I can I'm ok(ish) standing so can't get out of the washing up tonightShock.

Still feel a bit sicky, but I'm meant to be in work in two hours, so have made a warm drink which I'll have with a biscuit.

Hopefully nothing serious done then! Just try chill out and relax and get checked if not better in a couple of days x
