HELP ME! Restless legs!

Every night. I'm getting no more than about 90min stretch of sleep at a time because of restless bloody legs!!! I fall asleep and it wakes me up. I'm then awake anywhere between half hour to two hours. Hour or so later if I'm lucky I'm awake again. It's making me miserable. Someone tell me how to make it stop please! I need to sleep tonight and I can tell it's starting already!

I don't think I have it as badly as some but Its enough to make it hard to
fall asleep

However I've found a complete cure. I use a electrical Muscle stimulator on my calve muscles every evening before I go to bed.

These type of things. I bought one for a back issue on the advice of my physio and saw that there was a setting for 'heavy legs'

Maybe it won't work for other people but it 100% works for me.

Sorry for typos

I suffer terribly with RLS, have been taking Ropinorole for a while now and its a life saver.

Empathy56 · 22/01/2019 00:35

I get this regular with withdrawal from my strong pain relief. Also when I have been Anaemic.I took a Magnesium supplement and it really helped.I suffered constantly for weeks with this once and was exhausted.

Interesting!

My resless legs bother me in the evening but not in bed or in the night.
They are worse when I haven’t walked much in the day - or if I have walked loads.

I’m off to find myself some of that magic spray!

localfluff · 23/01/2019 23:32

I take high doses of vitamin b6 and it really helps.

StillMedusa · 24/01/2019 00:04

Tonic water..lots of it for the quinine helps me. Also gabapentin.
It sucks!

Waspnest · 24/01/2019 00:22

I second getting a blood test to rule out iron-deficiency. I get restless legs if I'm anaemic and I start craving ice as well. Magnesium seems to help a lot of people.

I sympathise I am experiencing this just now. Really bad tonight keeping me awake and I am at work tomorrow morning.

eggonmyface · 31/01/2019 21:30

I've been using the spray for a week and it's still horrific. I'm getting such little sleep I am utterly miserable!
So the doctor has ordered blood tests to check a few things and has prescribed pramipexole if bloods are ok. Has anyone else used this?

Sorry just read back through and seen there is a few on the thread that take pramipexole. Does it take long to start working or am I going to be in heaven the first night i take it and get a full nights sleep!

Yours sounds much worse but regular cardio and strength training really helped mine. Good luck it sounds agonising.

eggonmyface · 02/02/2019 21:28

Bloods are back normal.
Feel abit nervous to start taking these new tablets? I've read too much on them and scared myself...

Am I the only person to have found the electrical muscle stimulators to work. 💁🏻‍♀️
I guess the cause of each persons restless legs is different but it works for me and I don't have to mess about trying out different supplements.
It was also an instant 'cure' for me. My physio hires them out so that might be an idea if people want to try before they commit. Although I think you can buy cheap ones on Amazon.

Duvetdweller · 13/02/2019 15:24

Ropinrole is a game changer - nothing else has worked.
