my DH doesn't make sure my DC have seatbelts on before he drives off and lo and behold today a car reversed into them.no damage done but it could've been serious.
what do I do about this? I nag all the time about it and he seems to think it doesn't matter because he can't be bothered to remind a 5 year old and he's always in a rush.

Don't let them in the car with him again!! Ever.

LuckyLou7 · 21/01/2019 20:07

Absolutely unacceptable. Let him be reckless with his own life, not your child's. Better to be late than dead.

well he's staying at his mum's tonight and in all the years we've been married he's never stayed away even when we've had the worst arguments and I've told him to leave he never has.
He quietly got his things and and left when he saw how mad I was.
At least he realises how much messed up this time.

I wouldn't let him drive them unless you were there to check the seat belts were fastened. This may mean he doesn't ever drive them by himself, as you then probably wouldn't be around to check they were safely belted in for the return journey.

Why is he so careless about their safety? Has today's accident made him rethink? Are they his children? Does he wear his own seat belt?

ffswhy · 21/01/2019 20:59

He always drives off without his belt on and puts it on about 5 mins later. It annoys the hell out of me but he's not changed in 15 years so why will he now.
He knows this is serious hence why he's gone to his mum's. He still txt to say I'm making it into a bigger thing and no one was hurt he doesn't get the poitn really.
