Has anyone done a murder mystery evening at home?

Are they easy enough to do? Is it worth getting anyone in - and if so any idea on cost? Dd turns 16 soon and we’re struggling for ideas......

I've been to a couple. One was based on a Victorian murder and everyone got dressed in character, the other was based around a meal on New Years Eve. So started reading the characters, then a course was served, then more character reading. I think I preferred the first type better. It was very easy to do , it just takes people a while to settle into their characters, but great fun.

Yes, we did one for a 35th birthday. We got dressed up in character, sat around a table at my friend's house and handed out the role books. Then we had to stick a DVD on which explained things and gave us clues. There was plenty of time for breaks, chat, etc. We all really enjoyed It!

I've never done one at an actual venue though.

We have twice. It was fun because it was family, we dressed up and enjoyed the acting. They were a bit cheesy and I couldn’t keep up with the plot for most of the time.
