Come hither...it's a random find thread

Went to the local 'duck park' with DS this afternoon. As we arrive he starts shouting that there is a present in the tree.

lo and behold his eagle eyes have spotted a tiny bit of paper, tied up with blue thread, hanging in the tree. (Quite why he thinks it's a present I do not know)

Anyway, rightly or wrongly, I can't help but have a look (according to my DH, this was wrong and I have possibly ruined something for someone - he's probably right but at the time I just didn't think..) anyway....WTF is this and why was it delicately tied up into a tiny square and then tied to a branch in a tree? On the outside it simply says TREE

Did you put it back? Could be a treasure hunt or something

Is that Arabic?

Yes it's back, albeit I did take it back to show DH first (we live practically next door)

Maybe instructions in code for a criminal gang

My guess is a treasure hunt clue.

The writing is in Arabic script but it's not Arabic; I can't read a thing and just checked with DH (it's his first language) and he said the same. It could be Urdu, Farsi or Sindhi or a number of other languages.
