Anyone else feel like they can't believe they have an actual baby/child?

Bit odd I know, but I wondered if anyone else feels this way...

My baby is now 6 months old and I still can't really believe that he is mine. Every day I still think to myself 'wow, I grew him and gave birth to him'. I can't actually believe I am a mother.

For a long time, I felt like I didn't really 'know' him. Now, I have a very strong bond with him, I love the bones of him, but sometimes I feel like he was an amazing gift that was given to me rather than actually being 'mine'. Is that strange?!

Oh no! I’m due my first soon after a rough few years getting this far and while I feel like this now I was hoping when he/she is here it would feel “normal” which I can’t at all imagine!

But lovely to hear how much you all delight in your offspring, of all ages Smile

I have 2. Aged 4 and 2. I’m still waiting for someone to come along and take them back, like “whoops! We made a mistake, these aren’t yours!”

Yep! I particularly remember giving him his name. In the early days, whenever anyone in the hospital, or GP or health visitor referred to him by his name, I'd feel almost panicked - sort of, 'Bloody hell, if they let us name him, they really are expecting us to look after him ourselves!'
