Hi
I’ve applied for a physio assistant position on NHS jobs website. I was wondering if anyone here has this job and could tell me about it?
Thank you! 😊

What would you like to know? The job will differ depending on the setting, eg hospital /community setting but broadly you will be seeing patients alongside a physio to assist with handling and equipment. Once experienced you may be given physio programmes to do with familiar patients (basic exercises). Setting up equipment and tidying up afterwards, maybe some basic admin jobs, sometimes cleaning equipment. Hope that’s helpful

Thank you! It’s in a hospital. Do you enjoy the job? What hours do you normally do?

I’m not actually a physio assistant but I work directly with them every day. Hours are usually 8-4 or 8.30-4.30. Occasionally some hospitals will have weekend working but again that will depend on the department. All the physio assistants I work with love their job but I guess it often largely depends on whether you work in a nice team with good colleagues (just like any other job!). If you’re going to be on the wards then coming into contact (not physical contact!! Grin with bodily functions needs to not bother you too much.

I was previously a healthcare assistant so I’m used to bodily functions! Thank you for all your info, it sounds really good and the hours are great 😊

Ah you’ll be in the perfect position then - you should have some really nice transferable skills. Good luck with your application!
