DS's cough and snotty nose will be the death of me

I'm losing the will my DS is 17 months and has got the worst cold. He was asleep by 6.30 and I've been back to his room at least 7 times as he coughs, wakes up and cries.

He's had vapour rub, Calpol, Calpol plug in, nose drops and a raised mattress. I give him water when he wakes.

I just don't know what else to do, I'm losing my sanity. Just needed to rant really but any suggestions will be welcome

Can you prop him up in bed a bit? Either with a pillow or something under his cot, this helps when DD is full of cold

A nurse friend of mine recommended difflam spray. You can ask for it at a pharmacy. Can be used on babies. It is a numbing spray that helps ease the pain of sore throats, ulcers and teething. When my DS started showing signs of croup (cough would wake him up, so would cry which would aggravate his cough) I used it on him and it managed to help him sleep.

Raw onion cut up in his room? Sounds weird but some people swear by it

We bought a vapouriser when my little one had a really bad cough and it definitely helped.
