He has made racists comments in the past and offended me and my family so much that I turn over whenever I see his face on tv.

KlutzyDraconequus · 18/01/2019 19:57

Yup 3 middle aged men being paid a great deal of money for acting like children and creaming their undie over boxes of steel..

Sounds like a great show... No thanks.

ginghambox · 18/01/2019 19:59

@Orangelego @KlutzyDraconequus

I think you have misunderstood the question. I asked if anyone else was watching. You are not, so why answer?

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/01/2019 20:03

@ginghambox

Me too. Didnt watch the Evans travesty, but tuned in again when Matt LeBlanc was in charge and it was ok. Not as good as the C/M/M years, but a damned sight better than the egomaniacal arsehole that is Chris Evans.

I'll answer any thread I please, it's a public forum after all.
Besides you asked:
Anyone else or am I am minority of one?

If you sat at a table with a thousand people and stood and said,
Anyone else for a cuppa or just me?
Do you think only those that want a cuppa would reply? Nope, everyone would.

If you only wanted people that were watching the show to respond, perhaps a better and less open title would have been,
"I'm watching that shit car show on Amazon with the over paid racist and violent thug presenting it. It's pretty good. I just hope he doesn't punch a producer and get sacked"

But then it doesn't really matter what you said, as soon as you mention a program or a topic or any subject on a public and open forum you invite responses by any member of that public forum because it is an open and public forum.

You could have started a topic on swollen ankles caused by pregnancy, and non pregnant folk could answer.
Or a topic on being a victim of domestic violence and then people who have never experienced it could answer.
Or you could start a topic on universal credit and you'd get lots of people responding even when they have never claimed universal credit. So on and so on.

Now I'm sure if you only wanted responses from people that were actually watching the show you were watching you could have found a dedicated forum for that show or a subreddit etc. Or you could have put this thread in the TV topic on this site, which may limited the amount of people open to the thread itself. But you didn't, you chose chat, which is, as mentioned, an open topic for anyone to respond to anything.

Not watching it at time of transmission, but I'll catch up with it at some point - like you, i watched all the original TG but haven't watched the next generation version; and have seen every episode of TGT. I know they are old, fat, and bigoted - but that's what makes it fun Grin

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/01/2019 20:23

That was a very long post, you a bit bored?

I can recommend a very good TV show for you to watch if so :)

BigStripeyBastard · 18/01/2019 20:30

Err....ok then...ahem.

OP, I am not actually watching it right at this second but I will begin watching it quite soon.
Yes, it is a trio of daft, overpaid men.... one of whom may be a bit of a twat and another that does have a tendency to crash quite often but hey, it's entertaining. There are currently far more overpaid, offensive twats on telly 24/7 debating the Brexit debacle (looking at you, JRM and BoJo) but at least the TGT option might be funny.

And I do very much love James May.

littlemeitslyn · 18/01/2019 20:58

Really???

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/01/2019 21:50

@littlemeitslyn LYN! How the fuck are you?

OP, I haven't seen season 2 yet. Please forgive me.

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/01/2019 22:13

@sneakygremlins

You are ambitious but rubbish, and forgiven Wink

DH and I just had a chuckle over the new hashtag and will be watching. I like them as a trio - not just a presenting team but real, genuine friends doing a show together about something they love, and clearly having a great time doing it. That makes me happy to watch.

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/01/2019 23:04

@eyedrops I loved the start of the first series, when JC was milking him being kicked out of the BBC and then saw his mates in his rearview mirror. Got me quite sweaty eyed, ironically!

OP posts:
InspectorIkmen · 18/01/2019 23:21

Watched every episode so far OP including tonight’s. Love it. Love C/M/H. Love the humour, the locations and the cars. I watch very little telly but I’ll never miss this.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 18/01/2019 23:24

Yes we watched it - was annoyed when JC ran over all the veg, he looks like he could do with eating a few more veg and less pies. Still entertaining, don't bother with the BBC version now.

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/01/2019 23:54

Be fair Lokis James has chunked up a fair bit too!

Dh just came through and told me he'd seen an advert for this. His mind put the space for the hashtag after amazon. He was surprised but thought it a good description. Grin

diamantegal · 19/01/2019 00:09

I'm a complete idiot - I hadn't even twigged that the space in the hashtag could be moved Blush. In my defence, I was watching it with DS (9) who thinks Top Gear was the best car show ever and has all the challenges DVDs - yes I'm a terrible parent but he loves the cars and the stupidity, and the rest of it goes over his head.

That said, he's very excited about the new new Top Gear with Freddie Flintoff (he may also watch the equally inappropriate A League Of Their Own) - I'm not so sure!

VetOnCall · 19/01/2019 01:54

I'm waiting for DP to come home from work so we can watch it (we're in Canada so 7 hours behind the UK). We're both massive fans of TGT and have re-watched every episode recently whilst waiting for the new series. I love the humour, locations and cars as a PP said, and the crazy stunts; I think the three of them have the best job ever 😄

EggysMom · 19/01/2019 19:03

Watched it now - it's still up to standard Grin
