The handle on my safe isn't working and H has a business trip in a few days and his passport is inside!

Got the code spot on and it says it's "Open", when I try to lift the handle I can't.

Can anyone help?!?!

Call your local locksmith.

Sitranced · 18/01/2019 15:21

If the the code works but the handle doesn't move, could there be something in the way of the handle turning. - could you tilt it backwards then try the handle?

londonmummy2 · 18/01/2019 15:25

Tried jigging the handle all which ways to no avail. Even sprayed some WD40 on it.

Think I'm going to have to fork out for a locksmith to come 🙄

When our safe stopped working all we had to do was change the batteries.

ChristmasFairy2018 · 18/01/2019 15:31

The number pad should pull off and the batteries will be behind.

ChristmasFairy2018 · 18/01/2019 15:32

And our problem was exactly the same as yours.

DGRossetti · 18/01/2019 15:33

Did it come with a manual key ?

Ours has a cylinder key to open in case the combination is forgotten or the batteries (which can only be changed from the inside) go flat.

chilledteacher · 18/01/2019 15:33

Ours was also a battery problem when the safe went in our hotel room.

ChristmasFairy2018 · 18/01/2019 15:37

This is ours with the battery section showing. The front just slides off.

Ah ok will try batteries!

No idea where the paperwork is for it or if there's a manual key. I'm worried the locksmith will think I'm lying that it's mine if I have no paperwork to back it up.

Does it come with a key to open manually? our one at work opens with a key as well as the keypad

badgerread · 18/01/2019 15:53

Sorry, ignore me, someone else just said that!

ChristmasFairy2018 · 18/01/2019 23:42

Are you in?

Fusioluxe · 18/01/2019 23:53

Locksmith will make you sign to say your house, your lock.
Will ask to see proof that you are the house owner.
Will do the job in presence of a police officer if unsure (that’s probably just for opening a door to a property when proof of residency is inside) or will walk away.
If all house residents are present for the opening it shouldn’t be a problem.

Fiddie · 19/01/2019 00:20

Did you get it open?

londonmummy2 · 19/01/2019 12:23

Yes we're in! It's honestly too embarrassing to say....

In my sleep deprived baby-brain pregnancy-brain state I completely forgot you have to hold down the green button as you lift the handle. £110 to the locksmith to remind me of that!

😬

KittensAndCake · 19/01/2019 17:56

Ha ha, oh well at least it's open 😂

londonmummy2 · 19/01/2019 18:54

Haha yep, not my finest hour!
