Orangepear · 17/01/2019 21:15

Exciting!

Boyskeepswinging · 17/01/2019 21:17

After all the political shenanigans this week this is most welcome news. At last! A safe haven of decency, civilisation and lovely people to look forward to. And Esme and Patrick are back! Hurrah! Although Claudia has been replaced.

All we need now is The Great Pottery Throw Down to return, too. I bloody loved that programme.

noimnottryingforagirl · 17/01/2019 21:23

Sewing mag website says 12th Feb air date!!!

Uncooperativefingers · 17/01/2019 21:58

Yes! This is my favourite of all the "Great British whatever" programmes. Shame that it's Joe Lycett now presenting: I'm not a fan. Hope he doesn't ruin it...

GoldenKelpie · 17/01/2019 21:58

Oh boys, I also love the Great Pottery Throwdown. There is something awesome about watching gifted amateurs in action. No date yet, but soon obviously (start date for Sewing Bee).

I am more of a crafter than sewer but I love Bake Off too and never beke (or eat cakes/bread).

I cannot wait. I'm wondering if any faces will be familiar from Instagram.

GoldenKelpie · 17/01/2019 22:00

noimnot 12the Feb, that's really soon.

MabelBee · 17/01/2019 22:01

Oh that's fab news! I thought maybe they'd canned it. I have actually started sewing so will be watching with new eyes.

GoldenKelpie · 17/01/2019 22:02

Re: Great :Pottery Throwdown, anyone remember them making a toilet episode? Brilliant!

Awesome! I'd heard they weren't making another series. This has cheered me up no endSmile

DareDevil223 · 17/01/2019 22:08

Yay! I can't sew, I have no interest in sewing but I LOVE this programme. I also love the Great Pottery Throwdown. I think I just love watching people who have a real skill or talent. Proper feelgood telly Smile

Yippeeayeyeah · 17/01/2019 22:08

Can’t wait, love this show!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 17/01/2019 22:14

Joe Lycett is presenting it instead of Claudia Winkleman. He was on Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (RHLSTP) recently and Esme was in the audience because they'd been out drinking together after doing some Sewing Bee PR. She joins in a bit towards the end and is quite funny as she's fairly pissed.

I'm looking forward to it, I find it very restful to watch.

Mousewithascarf · 17/01/2019 22:40

I saw the ad too and was so excited. I think pottery showdown has been axed though. Rumoured to be due to a grudge about bake off going over to channel 4 but don’t know if that’s true. The viewing figures were apparently really good. There was some mention of it having taken pottery as far as it could go too but I find that hard to believe. Meanwhile it’s great we at least have sewing bee to look forward to.

Boyskeepswinging · 19/01/2019 12:59

Mind you, they said there would be no more Sewing Bee and here we are so fingers crossed for Throw Down to return, too. (It also had The Best soundtrack ever for this style of programme). I just love the way that the contestants help each other out in both shows - it's great to see such kindness on TV. Remember when they had to follow a Japanese pattern that was like origami and I think only one of them could work it out so he helped the others. That was lovely!

And, yes Golden I do remember the toilet episode. It was brilliant, particularly when they had to flush them and didn't one soak the judges? I found it so interesting as I'd never really thought about how toilets are made before.

foxyfemke · 19/01/2019 13:25

I'm so excited! I thought it'd been axed, so happy to see it return. I just love this kind of programme, especially with all the serious current affairs stuff at the moment.

DreamingofSunshine · 19/01/2019 13:59

I'm so happy it's coming back Smile

ChickenFriedMice · 19/01/2019 14:34

I don't even enjoy sewing or craft and I'm so glad that this is back! I enjoyed the pottery one too, as did the dc. Unsure about Joe Lycett as a replacement but perhaps the BBC saw how well Noel was accepted on bake off and are heading in the same direction?

GoldenKelpie · 09/02/2019 21:22

Just to update to anyone who doesn't know, this Tuesday evening is first episode!
