Just that, really

What were you wearing the last time you drove the car? Check all possible coats, bags.

What was the first thing you did after you last drove the car? Try and remember what you were doing? Did you go into a room with the keys and put them down on a desk, a bed etc?

Did someone else borrow your keys to get something out of the car?

Hope you find them!

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 17/01/2019 11:48

In the washing basket?
Hope you find them soon.

AdaColeman · 17/01/2019 11:48

It’s time to pray to Saint Anthony for help!

Reaa · 17/01/2019 11:50

Found mine still in the ignition, after doing the school run from the previous afternoon,l.

HadAnOeuf · 17/01/2019 11:51

Mine have been inside an umbrella before (closed but not fastened)

Inside a reusable bag in your handbag

In "the kitchen drawer". Everyone has one.

By the toilet

ArfArfBarf · 17/01/2019 11:53

No help for now but when you find them order one of these (or similar):

www.amazon.co.uk/Tile-Mate-Replaceable-Battery-White/dp/B07GLY3HCS/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ref&keywords=tile&dpPl=1&dpID=21SqXYCjaAL&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1547725905&sr=8-3

I have one and I “call” my keys from my phone about 3 times a day to help find them.

CandidCat · 17/01/2019 11:59

Kitchen counter near the fridge freezer where you dumped them while putting shopping away, probably now buried under/behind something.
Or bathroom if you had to dash to the loo when you got in.

NewYoiker · 17/01/2019 12:00

My house keys were in the spare wheel well under the boot liner 😳

thinkingcapon · 17/01/2019 12:05

In the ignition?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/01/2019 12:06

Other half take them by mistake?
In a handbag
Under a sofa
On top of a microwave

RandomWok · 17/01/2019 12:08

What were you doing when you last remember having them? I've lost my keys in the freezer and the toddler hide them in a cool box that was stored away. They were missing for days!

fusioluxe · 17/01/2019 12:10

You missed work?! Oh my goodness! What did they say?

Buy a key finder today. Now. So it never happens again when you find them. Something that works with your phone or when you whistle or clap your hands.

CottonTailRabbit · 17/01/2019 12:10

I bought a pack of Tile key finders which I have on keys, wallet and other things. Total sanity saver.

Penguin34 · 17/01/2019 12:12

I lost mine the other day and I'd stopped them on the way in, they were right outside my front door

Ifionlyknewthenwhatiknownow3 · 17/01/2019 12:14

In the bin?

veggiepigsinpastryblankets · 17/01/2019 12:17

Are they attached to your house keys, in the lock on the outside of your front door?

Or in a reusable bag from last time you did a food shop?

...in the car still?

MikeUniformMike · 17/01/2019 12:22

When did you last use them? What were you doing at the time? Did you or your DP/DH fetch something from the car. Check trouser pockets, down the back of the sofa, in the fridge, any surface like the flat top of a bannister, kitchen island, bathroom shelf, handbag, coat pockets,
with gloves/hat/scarf you had n that day.

CatnissEverdene · 17/01/2019 12:24

If I ever "lose" my keys, they are either in DHs pocket, car or his work bag.

Funny, that. Hmm

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 17/01/2019 12:25

Second the PP who recommended Tiles. They are great!

When my keys go missing, it is usually because I didn't need to use them to open the door when I got home - for example because DH was already there, or because he met me somewhere and we we went home together. In that case, they are usually tucked into whatever bag or coat I was wearing.

And if it isn't that, I put them down on a random worksurface intending to put them back in the drawer but didn't, and mine would be as hopelessly lost as yours if I didn't have a tile attached to them on account of knowing how rubbish I am keeping track of stuff like this!

Peachydream · 17/01/2019 12:26

Mine have turned up:

Still in the car
On a high window sill in the downstairs loo
In the back door keyhole
In the lining of my handbag.

Have a break from looking and have a brew, regroup and start again with fresh eyes. Fingers crossed for you OP

HepzibahHumbug · 17/01/2019 12:27

Definitely look in the bin

In your laptop bag, if you have one?
I have ripped my house apart hunting for keys, rung work to say I would have to work from home because I have lost my keys, only to find them trapped between papers as I have set myself up to work for the day.

Moggymorn · 17/01/2019 12:31

Work were ok. I've never done anything like this before! It's definitely not a habit. I'm so baffled! Thanks for all suggestions, still no luck Sad

In the fruit bowl.

Mine is like a magnet for random stuff. Current contents are three bananas, a couple of satsumas an apple, a sharpie, a biro, a lump of blu tac, a usb stick and DS's bike lock key.
