Camping with a baby, what does your 1yr old sleep on?

DS will be 15 months when we go camping in August. I don't think we'll have room for his travel cot with all the other junk we need to take. So what can he sleep on/in? A blow up cot would be ideal if such a thing exists :o

You get inflatable beds with raised sides so they can't roll out. I did take a travel cot until she was 2 though tbh.

Yeah the travel cot would be ideal but it's just so big and cumbersome! We're already having to buy roof bars and a box so we can fit everything in the car.

Inflatable bed with sides sounds good though, will have to check those out. Are they like the ready beds that have a built in sleeping bag or different to those?

Koo-di pop up travel cot? Love ours, weighs about 1kg

TigerDragonMonkey · 16/01/2019 21:41

You can get pop-up camping cots. I’ve never tried them, but they look compact! We just took our normal travel cot camping.
Otherwise, inflatable ready-bed is a good bet :).

WhatNow40 · 16/01/2019 21:42

We used one of these until about 3-4. I took a duvet for extra padding underneath the tent.

I liked it because I knew he couldn't get out by himself, so couldn't roll out either. And it has black out blinds so you can still have lights on and not wake them up.

You can also use it on the beach as somewhere to nap and stay protected from the sun.

Really light and easy to put up.

From 5mo to 2 years. Loved it and doesn't take up much room.

We have an inflatable with raised sides that my 4 year old slept in, and the 20 month old just slept on a regular blow up wedged between the raised sides one and me ( we co-sleep at home, she bf in the night still)
Raised side one is a bit chunky but I put it under the front seat ( reaching in from back row) I’d recommend putting something g between the floor of the tent and an inflatable for insulation from cold ground-we used fleece blankets- and an electric pump too.
I put her in a winter (3 tog) sleeping bag as it does get v chilly at night.

MrsJBaptiste · 16/01/2019 21:57

We took the foam mattress out of the cot at home and put that on the floor of the tent. Then loads of blankets and he was toasty as anything!

Those pop up ones look really good! I think that's what we'll go with, thanks!
