So I work in a professional area (a lot of responsibility). Earlier today
I felt a little wooshy (low blood sugar) and I know a fellow colleague has some Pepsi in her drawer, so I helped myself to one , I noticed the cap was already twisted off , but no liquid was missing, drank 1/2 a bottle ,I plan to replace it tom with a little note of thanks .
However that was 1/2 an hour ago , and I feel , well tipsy ?
My question is , how do I approach this ??? I cant prove it was tampered with , or that is has ?alcohol in it ?
Do I approach my colleague and feign ignorance ? Do I report this to a manager ?

You say nothing because you shouldn't have been helping yourself to someone else's belongings.

Cleffa · 16/01/2019 16:47

Are you sure it's not your low blood sugar making you feel funny?

Not sure why you would drink something that the seal had been broken on, did it taste ok?

pfwow · 16/01/2019 16:48

You do nothing. For all you know, the colleague wasn't even ever drinking it at work.

Maybe just replace it with a new bottle and apologise for taking it, mind your own business

thebeesknees123 · 16/01/2019 16:50

Id say nothing but keep an eye on the situation. Would you say it's affecting her work at all? Does she drive home? Idhate to be responsible for losing someone their job

CookieSwirlC · 16/01/2019 16:51

I can’t believe you would help yourself to something out of someone else’s drawer without asking. That’s beyond inappropriate. Also drinking from an unsealed bottle, it could have been bleach or plant food for all you know:

FauxFox · 16/01/2019 16:51

I just can't imagine why you'd help yourself to someone else's drink from their draw without asking...especially if it was already 'used' Confused

Have you no tea and coffee making facilities? No vending machines? No colleagues that were present to ask if they had a sweet or something??

Get some sweets for your own bag and leave your colleague alone - you don't know what's in the bottle, when/whether she plans to drink it or anything!!

HilaryBriss · 16/01/2019 16:53

I can't believe you would go into someone elses drawer and drink their Pepsi! Its bad enough when food/drink in a communal fridge gets eaten or drank but to actually go into their drawers is out of order.

BrokenWing · 16/01/2019 16:54

You don't take things from other people's drawers without asking.

Even if it did have alcohol in it which you would have tasted, she might have it for after work so without any other issues none of your business.

AlexaAmbidextra · 16/01/2019 16:57

I’d be fucking furious if a work colleague went into my desk and helped themselves to something of mine.

ragged · 16/01/2019 16:58

pfffftt... how you feeling now, OP?
I think I might dip in that drawer more regularly, if I were you.

WorraLiberty · 16/01/2019 16:59

Sorry but that's hilarious.

You stole someone else's drink and now you want to tell them you think it might've had alcohol in it?

Really? Grin Grin

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 16/01/2019 16:59

Your last sentence had me Shock
You don't know if she herself knew it had alcohol in it.
You don't know how long she's had it. Maybe yet another colleague spiked it.

MarcieBluebell · 16/01/2019 17:01

Umm you shouldn't have drunk it.

agedknees · 16/01/2019 17:03

Low blood sugar can make you feel tipsy. Sure it’s not just that? You shouldn’t be going into peoples drawers. You shouldn’t be stealing people’s drink.

overnightangel · 16/01/2019 17:03

Bizarre thread

WeepingSong · 16/01/2019 17:11

If there was enough alcohol in there to make you tipsy you would have been able to taste it.

FawnDrench · 16/01/2019 17:12

You're not being very responsible at all are you, despite your professional position with "lots of responsibility"?

Get over yourself.

Bloody ridiculous post.

UrsulaPandress · 16/01/2019 17:13

Really? You drank from a bottle on which the seal was broken? Apart from the fact you took someone else's drink from their drawer, it could have contained anything. We keep the sealant for our oak work units in a coke bottle. It looks just like coke ...

LilyOf2 · 16/01/2019 17:15

potential issue for you:

you report this issue to your boss. you have no proof and colleague calls you a liar. she then complains you went into her personal belongings and stole from her without asking and youre the one in trouble. she has proof as you grassed yourself up with your initial complaint.

i would replace it and back away.

LilyOf2 · 16/01/2019 17:16

also, thats pretty skanky to drink an open bottle of pepsi from someones draw. Theres no proof it was even pepsi Envy not envy.

MaiaRindell · 16/01/2019 17:17

Replace it, apologise and never do it again.

SoupDragon · 16/01/2019 17:18

If there was enough alcohol in there to make you tipsy you would have been able to taste it.

I agree.

HollowTalk · 16/01/2019 17:19

God, I wish I'd thought of that when I was teaching. It would have made my life a lot easier Grin

drspouse · 16/01/2019 17:19

I would leave a note and replace it and watch them look paranoid...
