Abortion/ Missed miscarriage

I just want to say in advance this is regarding termination and possible miscarriage so if either of those are triggering for you I apologise.

I went a few days ago to have a medical abortion, this was 100% the right decision for me. I had worked out my dates to be 8 weeks, I had a positive pregnancy test 2 weeks ago when I was already a week late.

At the clinic, they scanned me and said I was only 4 weeks and 2 days and there was no yolk sack present.

They said I must have got my dates wrong or the pregnancy isn’t viable but they’d have to scan again in a week to confirm which one. I declined and took both pills there and then as I didn’t want to wait around.

I know in the scheme of things it doesn’t make much difference but in my mind I’d like to know. Does this sound like a missed miscarriage? They were lovely at the clinic but when i asked, they just kept saying not to worry about any of it.

If you’re certain of your dates then it does sound like a missed miscarriage. Regardless, have a Flowers

I think the pregnancy would not be far enough along to say.

You thought your were 5 weeks but were measuring 4 weeks and 2 day and that is only the difference of mm. When the collection
of cells are so small it is difficult to get an accurate measurement. You would not expect to definitely see a heart beat until 6 to 7 weeks.

It sounds like a missed miscarriage as there was such a big discrepancy between your dates and the dates by measurement. I presume you'd have a general idea of when you were likely to have conceived and while it's fairly usual for dates to be out by 1-2 weeks, 4 weeks is a big difference.

Either way, take it easy and look after yourself Flowers

Thanks so much for replying. I was pretty certain of my dates, I know that was my last period so it would’ve put me at 8 weeks.
Also for me to have had a positive test 2 weeks before, by their dates i would’ve been 2 weeks 2 days, is it possible to get a positive at this gestation?
I probably sound ridiculous questioning it but I’d just like to know.
Really appreciate the replies Flowers

When I suffered a MMC they 8nitially told me my dates were wrong, but as I had a postive test on Christmas Eve, not a date i’m Likely to mx up.

After an early scan for bleeding I was told my dates were wrong. His was confirmed a week later, however, at my 13 week scan I was told the pregnancy had not progressed.
