Mortified at what I said at a party

I was at a friend’s party, that was hosted in a dark dance club and we were all under strict orders to be in fancy dress. An acquaintance who I have met a few times came up to me for a chat when I was on the dance floor. She doesn’t drink, but I had drank three large glasses of wine by this point. Every time I had seen her previously she’d had her hair pulled back in a pony tail.We chatted nicely for a bit, and then she said she liked my outfit. I liked how she looked. She had a wig on, with hair down and the fringe was sticking out away from her forehead but it looked really good and fitted the outfit! So I said to her, I love your wig!

It wasn’t a wig Blush

I wanted to disappear from the planet. I apologised profusely, but can’t believe I said something so stupid.

That's not a bad thing to say, I wouldn't even think twice if someone said that to me.

What outfit was it? If she’d managed to style her hair so good it looked like a wig of the character, that’s a compliment!

Don’t worry about it. She’s knows you were off your face! Style it out with “I was drunk, what do you expect 😁” if it’s ever brought up!

I remember someone saying "who are you going as... Toyah Wilcox?" to someone in a group of people in a pub about to head to a fancy dress party.

Except "Toyah" wasn't actually in fancy dress, and not going to the party...

Could have been worse. She could have been asked if she was going as Bella Emberg.

Could be worse. Friend asked if I was pregnant again the other day.

I’m not. I’m just fat Grin he was more mortified than me I think!

Hahahaha.

I was on a hen weekend about 10 years ago and the instruction for night 1 was "wear a hat, wig or hairpiece you love". Me and a friend who was also going bought some massive afros and headbands like the 118 118 men, and met the rest of the party down at the hotel bar. Everyone was in their hats and wigs, I was fairly chuffed with ours until we all talked about the 'story' behind why we chose our wigs. Before we went one of the women spoke about how her wig meant a lot to her as she had recently recovered from breast cancer and it's the wig she wore after having chemo, and the wig symbolises what she's been through. It was a really moving story but I felt like a prize twat when it was me up next and I was sitting there with a ridiculous giant Afro just said "well we thought it would be funny" HmmConfused I wanted the ground to swallow me up
