Has anyone applied for an Irish Passport by post from UK recently?

Help! Can anyone who has applied for an Irish passport from the UK recently please advise me how the supporting documents (original birth & death certs, affidavits, etc etc) are returned to you once the application has been processed? I'm applying for 3 child passports so have to send lots of original, notarised docs off with the forms.

According to the website I have to send everything to the passport office in Cork, so I intend to do that using the Royal Mail International tracked & signed for service. Then it says that when the passports are issued they will be returned using a tracked service. But what about the supporting documents?? I'm terrified of them getting lost in the post as some are of sentimental value due to death of my Irish DH.

Can anyone advise? I've emailed the Irish embassy but have not had any reply (I realise they are rather busy at the moment!).

If anyone could confirm that the supporting documentation is returned using a tracked service that would set my mind at rest greatly.
