Do you bath your kids every night?

I usually do, but some evenings I just wonder if its ok for them to go a day without.

Obviously if they have done PE or something sweat-inducing I'd bath/shower them.

Just feeling lazy this evening.

Once a week at the very most plus a shower after swimming which is most fridays.
I only shower every 4 days or so and certainly don't smell.
Never understood the daily bathing/ showering obsession

MissCalamity · 15/01/2019 18:07

Normally 3-4 times a week.
When we had the heatwave last summer it was every day as they were very sweaty!

Orlandointhewilderness · 15/01/2019 18:10

No. Proper wash morning and evening and full bath every 4 ish days and after swimming.

Agree with Elspeth- also in Ireland and don’t know anyone who has time/the inclination for this.

DD is only 15 months but has never had a daily bath- we do it twice a week and it’s plenty.

If you’re cleaning them properly at every nappy change and after every meal they shouldn’t need a daily bath at toddler stage.

DavetheCat2001 · 15/01/2019 18:19

Relented and gave DD a shower..her feet and tights were a bit 'feety'!

Will probably get DS to have a shower too.

I think I got into a 'bath every night' routine when mine were small, and it's carried on, but actually they probably don't need one unless they've done PE/been playing in mud etc.

Mine have a bath or a shower most nights and I get a shower every morning.

minipie · 15/01/2019 18:25

Most nights yes but probably skip it or replace with a shower 1-3 times a week

GinTimeAtHome · 15/01/2019 18:32

Nopes!

Both of mine have bad skin, so 2/3 times a week! Any more and they end up all horrible and inflamed.

I’m trying to get away from baths and into showers as I find them so blasted time consuming!

LaBelleSausage · 15/01/2019 18:35

Yes, but DS is 13 months old and by the end of the day is coated in snot, yoghurt, crusted on biscuit etc

BatShaped · 15/01/2019 18:39

Yes. My youngest is now 12 and has either a bath or shower every day as he always has done - give or take the very odd day of course!

You get all sorts on this thread though with all sorts of views. I can't fathom why someone would only wash their kids once or twice a week (and indeed, themselves!) but doesn't effect me so crack on

Idontmeanto · 15/01/2019 18:47

Yes in the nappy-wearing years. About 3 baths a week since.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 15/01/2019 18:55

No

FogCutter · 15/01/2019 19:05

7yo has a shower or bath every other night unless he's dirty from football and 11yo has a shower every night except Fridays when he just flops into his PJs after a hard week at school!

YellowSkyBlue · 15/01/2019 19:07

Yes we bath every night because of our bedtime routine. Its quick with plain water or some bath oil occasionally. Its necessary for us as it distracts and calms everyone down.

YellowSkyBlue · 15/01/2019 19:07

My DC are 8 and under and go in the same bath.

snowone · 15/01/2019 20:17

Nope - every other night here and hair wash every 2nd bath. Our DD has eczema and we were advised not to bath her every night as it dries out their skin Smile

moredoll · 15/01/2019 20:19

Yes, DD is 2.5. It's part of her bedtime routine.

NotCopingWithThis · 15/01/2019 20:23

Nope. DS is only 4 months and has very dry/sensitive skin (I think possibly eczema). He gets a shower after swimming once per week and a bath at some point at the weekend.

Unbelievable18 · 15/01/2019 20:36

Every night without fail. Sometimes bath, sometimes shower. Same goes for us too, at least once a day more if exercising. Mine are 8 and 9 and get dirty and sweaty.

SuperNappyBaby · 15/01/2019 20:41

No. I have 4 children. Two nights a week we only get home at 6. In the evenings we have homework, dinner, clubs, time to read and relax. We are already in a rush witnout trying to add on baths and showers every night.

lifetothefull · 15/01/2019 20:42

no. Age 8. 3 x per week.

jessstan2 · 15/01/2019 20:48

I always bathed mine in the morning (I always bathed morning too), topped and tailed at night unless they got very dirty or in hot weather in which case they'd have another - or shower. Same for me and husband. So, yes, once a day but not necessarily at night time. I certainly never wanted to go out in the morning without a bath or shower so did the same with my child. If I was going out in the evening I'd have another, if not I'd just have a wash & clean teeth before bed.

Of course there would be the odd time when we didn't, if circumstances dictated. For example, if we went out for the day and came home latish - kid asleep in back of car - I wouldn't wake them up in order to wash, just pulled off outer clothes and put to bed, but usually we were all quite clean.

Ragaroo · 15/01/2019 20:50

Usually, sometimes skip once or twice and week. I don't scrub him but the amount of muck and fluff that comes off him justifies the bathing! Also he isn't the best a bum wiping so it's good to know that area is having a soak.

Ribbonsonabox · 15/01/2019 20:52

No. 3yo gets a bath about 3 times a week and hair washed once a week. My 6monty old has a face, hand and bum wash every day but only has a full dip in a bath every couple of weeks.
