Private villa holiday with dc

We're looking at possibly booking a villa holiday this year but I'm worried the dc will get bored, so after some reassurance.

It has a pool, but we're going in May so may be a little too chilly for spending the day in the pool. We'd need to drive 20 mins to the nearest town but looks like lots to do there. It has WiFi!

Dc are 8, 13 and 16. We've only done center parcs and all inclusive with them before, so this will be completely different.

It will be ok, won't it?

Why would they get bored?

We've done villa holidays quite often, and DS is always fine. Mind you, we do a lot of "family activites" on holidays - we play board games, mess around in the pool a LOT, we're all big readers, etc. So even if we were at a hotel, DS isn't one for going off and looking for excitement elsewhere.

We always do lots of outings - go and explore, go on boat trips, etc - but have some lazy days round the pool too and love it. I much prefer villa holidays to anything hotel-like because we all like our space.

Yes we'll go out lots and out to eat in the evenings etc. I imagine they'll be lots of family games too.

I think I'm just a bit anxious as we've not done it before and don't want to be the entertainment manager for the week.

We used to book villa holidays with our children, we always used to book them within a (quiet) resort, so we could take them to the beach easily and also when the children were older they could go unaccompanied to the resort.
It also meant my husband and I could have a drink when eating out at night as we could walk back to the villa.
