Anyone can go to a church wedding - even random members of the public!

I presume you have a commitment that means you can’t attend reception. I would have been happy if a guest just came to service - touched they’d made effort.

So should I Respond that I’m not attending and just go to the church? I know if I say I’m going they’ll be expecting me and my Dc for the meal which I don’t want them to lose money on wasted meals.

Yes just say you will be attending the church but not the after wedding meal

Just reply to say you cannot make it to the reception but would love to come to the church and see them get married.

I really wouldn’t worry about saying you’ll attend the ceremony but not the reception.

In reality the ceremony is what’s important and the reception is expensive 😒
You’ll no doubt save the couple the £80-120 per head cost whilst also getting to be there for the marriage!

As a 2019 bride I would not be at all offended!
