Can you go to the church but not the reception?

Or would I be better to decline the invitation altogether if I can’t attend the reception?

Sorry, it’s a wedding! If that wasn’t clear!

Anyone can go to a church wedding - even random members of the public!

I presume you have a commitment that means you can’t attend reception. I would have been happy if a guest just came to service - touched they’d made effort.

So should I Respond that I’m not attending and just go to the church? I know if I say I’m going they’ll be expecting me and my Dc for the meal which I don’t want them to lose money on wasted meals.

Yes just say you will be attending the church but not the after wedding meal

ApolloandDaphne · 15/01/2019 11:42

Just reply to say you cannot make it to the reception but would love to come to the church and see them get married.

Thank you!

@ilove

I really wouldn’t worry about saying you’ll attend the ceremony but not the reception.

In reality the ceremony is what’s important and the reception is expensive 😒
You’ll no doubt save the couple the £80-120 per head cost whilst also getting to be there for the marriage!

As a 2019 bride I would not be at all offended!

Thanks MrDarcy

I’d have been very touched that you actually made the effort to come to the important bit.

Course you can.
