Just that really. Fab surgeon did a good op. I’d like to say thank you.

Any idea what? No idea of her preferences for red or white, milk or dark.

It's lovely that you want to get a gift, I'm sure anything will be appreciated.

Please do include a card saying what they did well, we have to provide evidence for our appraisals each year and it would be nice to add some good feedback

I have a Gp who goes beyond the call of duty for me. Is there any awards I could nominate him for ? Thought of buying him a Christmas gift but was concerned it may be misinterpreted by other staff

Clare if you look through your local trust’s website you might find that they do a yearly awards scheme. Ours also post nice feedback on their Facebook page.

My friend is a doctor. I think she likes a nice thank you card and/or boxes of chocs/biscuits which can be shared with the team as most doctors don't work in isolation.

IMO a genuinely heartfelt card with your gratitude written down is perfect, nothing more needed at all. Or add a box of chocs if you feel the need, a whole team of staff will have supported the surgeon before, during and after the op so something which can be shared feels more appropriate to me. Then when anyone asks who the chocs are from the staff an say 'Ms x wanted to thank us for her op' which feels more team spirit etc

I got red wine and a big tin of nice biscuits for my daughter's surgeon.

A card is very appreciated with a box of chocs for theatre staff - they hardly ever get thanked and it goes down well.

As a one off gift I think its one of those times where it's the thought that counts. If you got her a bottle of red and she prefers white she's hardly going to think its a terrible gift but will be touched by the sentiment. PPs ideas of something to share with the team is a good idea, there will have been more people doing essential roles alongside the surgeon who did the cutting.
