I’m filling in school admissions forms and one of the questions is “what name should we use for guardian salutation?” What does this mean?

It’s after one for “what name should we use for addressing communications to this person?” Which seems to be the same question to me? Confused

I am guessing guardian salutations is asking if you want to be refered to as parent, carer, relative etc as not all children will be living with parents. For example I occasionally get stuff in School bag addressed parent of and then my childs name. For addressing communication it could be do you want to be known as miss/ms/ mrs/ Mr etc and surname for addressing post. We didn't have on our application but may be them just making sure people refered to as wish.

“guardian salutation” is not going to win the Plain English award this year.
