What colour is your bathroom?

We’re about to replace our bathroom after years of living in the house. It’s only small, roughly 2m x 2m. Part of me would like some brighter colour but then I think neutral tiles would be best (as bathrooms are so expensive) and I can always paint the walls with colour to perk things up and this can easily be changed.

I’ve had a look in showrooms and on p’interest for ideas but I find it all a bit overwhelming. I’m just curious what ‘normal’ people’s bathrooms are like. What colour do you have? Do you love it, or not? Feel free to share a pic if you would like (as i’d love some inspiration) but I understand if you’d rather not

We have a black slate floor with glossy white tiles and pale grey walls. We chop and change with towels - we have bright pink ones, lime green ones, purple ones and grey ones so we can change how it looks each time we change the towels.

We have a large spider plant in there and a large, ornate silver mirror with art deco frame.

White suite.

Dark grey floor tiles. Lighter grey wall tiles.

Original innit.

We have plain black and white too. Accessorised with vases etc in a bright orange, and the vanity unit is orange too. The idea was to have the permanent bits as neutral and the easily changed bits in colour.

White suite (is there any other colour nowadays?)
Oak laminate floor
White gloss tiles

It's very neutral but as a base it's good and we can easily jazz it up with coloured accessories, towels etc. We currently have the green towels and from Ikea.

White tiles with a black small tile border in the center, mid brown ceramic floor tiles, white suite coloured towels and accessories brighten it up

I like these tiles but just worry that patterned floor tiles are very current and may date quickly

White suite, white tiles. There’s one untiled wall that is deep bluey turquoise.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 14/01/2019 21:42

brizzleThat’s quite a good idea to have different colour towels. It would be nice to have a ‘new’ look often

White tiles on 3 walls all over and patterned blue, white and brown tiles over the other wall. White suite and 6ft white towel rail. Our bathroom is 1.85m x 1.4m so we went with lots of white and one large hit of colour and busyness.

runningtogetskinny · 14/01/2019 22:36

White tiles with black and white floor then painted walls so the colour can be updated

Downstairs bathroom is floor to ceiling pale grey tiles, the blind is very colourful with bright pink, blue and teal in it and every so often I swap the bath mat, towels and hand soap to match a particular colour in it.

Upstairs is only tiled around the bath with faintly striped cream/ beige tiles and a feature row then the walls painted a coffee colour (this is my favourite bathroom)

The ensuite only has tiles in the shower cubicle which are large pale cream non descript types and the walls a neutral colour. I find it really bland in there so this year I'm going to add colour on the walls and buy a pretty blind.

White and royal blue.

Maelstrop · 14/01/2019 23:02

Mosaic tile border all the way round, beige tiles floor to ceiling, slightly more reddish floor tiles.

Neutral cream wall tiles, dark black/brown floor tiles, pink red mosaic border and dark pink pain (raspberry diva), looks fab imo Grin

Grey lino floor, little squares with silver "grouting". White suite. Slate grey tiles round bath and sink splash back. Light grey walls and grey wallpaper with seagulls on above the tiles one wall.

Nicer than that sounds!

ILoveChristmasLights · 14/01/2019 23:15

I LOVE my bathroom.

Large grey tiles (I’m not at home but I think they’re 30x60) on the floor and hip high around most of the walls but up above the shower door height in that corner. White and grey walls. Grey vanity with white top. Chrome shower, taps etc.

It took me AGES to find the tiles. It’s been in 5 years now and it still looks new and I still love it. It’s as simple as changing the towels to get a different feel.

PoshPenny · 14/01/2019 23:19

Tiny bathroom the same size as yours. I have a dark blue tile floor, a white suite with a corner toilet (ideal standard space so slightly smaller than normal). White tiles. It's been brilliant.

SpringIntoSpring · 14/01/2019 23:21

Blue industrial, nonslip flooring, blue bath mat, yellow walls, white suite. Multicoloured towels. Purple mirror roughly painted yellow.

viccat · 15/01/2019 00:18

Light grey wall tiles with some 'feature tiles' in the middle of the bath. White suite. Dark grey lino floor.

I think neutral with different colour accessories is most versatile. I got nice towels as a treat when I had the bathroom done up, they add some colour and pattern.

Bloodybridget · 15/01/2019 01:52

Large white tiles with black pencil tiles midway up shower and along the top above the bath. Lino that looks like dark grey slate, was cheap and looks fine. We had really bright green walls for a while, which I found a bit much after a while, now they're a much darker greyish green that looks good, apart from the persistent damp bits, aargh.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 16/01/2019 18:40

Thanks everyone. Seems neutral is probably the way to go and then add colour with accessories and blind.

Not quite finished yet, as will be obvious, but we’ve gone for pale aqua zellige tiles on the walls and grey/brown marble on the floor. Can’t wait to use it!

Black and white tiled floor, white suite, white wall tiles, black towels, 1 wall painted in Dulux Misty Mirror. Looks clean and smart.
