Mantelpiece decoration my 2yo can't destroy?!

My toddler has trashed my mantelpiece 'display'. I admit that calling it a display is a bit much, but I had a gorgeous jug that I truly loved and now it's in a thousand pieces Sad

The mantelpiece is now completely bare, and it makes the room look like we are half way through moving out.

I have a nursery guard around the hearth, I don't want to lose any more of the room to defensive structures. I need to put some soul into the mantel / chimney breast in a toddler proof fashion.

We rent so can't paint or paper the wall.

Wtf can i do to make it look less like a student let that's robbed toys'r'us on the way home from the pub?!

You could display some nice wooden toys that the 2yo could play with? (photo pinched from Instagram)

I could. I seriously dislike the massive price tag on the grimms stuff though.

Ideally I wanted something grown up. And with the nursery guard I don't really want to encourage her to climb up by putting toys up there.

I'm doomed to a bare mantel arent I? Sigh.

Why can't you decorate the wall to your taste? Surely, if you're paying to live there you should be able to enjoy it as your home and decorate as you wish so long as you return it to its original state when you move out?

If that's really not possible, how about getting a nice (but not heavy) picture, painting, photo or piece of art that you can hang on the wall with those command strips?

I have a (charity shop find) leaf/berry garland and some led flower lights on one of mine - used to have led wax candles too until DD got to them but the other bits survive :)

Maybe see if you can find a replacement metal jug you like, should (hopefully) be a bit less breakable!
