DS is 22 months, and dropping his last nap. He seemed a bit tired today so I tried to get him to have a snooze this morning, no luck. 5 minutes ago he got all upset so I cuddled him and he conked right out. He is properly asleep at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, waaaaah, he's not going to go to sleep until about midnight now is he?

He'll be fine. Just make sure you wake him after an hour.

Bigonesmallone3 · 14/01/2019 16:05

I'm at this stage with my 23 month old, if u try and get her to stay awake all day she might fall asleep at 6/7 but won't sleep all through the night.. I try and get a morning nap but that doesn't always work, today she slept 12-2 😱
Maybe if you just let him have half an hour it will be ok?

Uh oh...the danger nap. Good lucky OP, you may need it at bed time!

Mine too! Sometimes he sleeps through when he drops off late afternoon... DH is away tonight so 🤞

InternetRandomer · 14/01/2019 16:19

I’d say 15 mins absolute max at this time of day!

CmdrIvanova · 14/01/2019 16:23

I woke him.

He is FURIOUS.

Oh dear. Not long til bedtime Grin

Mine of the same age slept 1.30-2.30 and I woke him then. He prob won’t go to sleep before 8/8.30 but he was very much not tired at 1230 :(

Good luck OP, I hate naps!! And sleep in general robe fair xx

DonaldDucksTowel · 14/01/2019 16:37

My 11 month old has her second nap 3:30/45 - 4:30/45 every day then still goes to bed between 7:30 & 8
With all my other DC if they slept anytime after 2pm bedtime went to shit - she’s an anomaly 🤷🏻‍♀️

CmdrIvanova · 14/01/2019 16:51

I bloody hate naps too. DD had dispensed with all that silly nonsense by 18 months, no transition phase, one day she just didn't go for a nap and that was that.

I would rather they didn’t nap to be honest - too much organising and changing plans to suit.

Also for some reason it’s always been a battle with both of mine. I count believe that some people put their baby in the cot and they just nap??!!! :)

MrsJBaptiste · 14/01/2019 17:39

To be honest OP I wouldn't have woken him after just 20 mins. When mine were little, any nap late in the afternoon when they had (sort of) dropped their nap means a 9pm bedtime so might as well let them have an hour! I don't envy you, I'm past this stage now but can still remember trying to keep the toddler awake whilst doing the school run, making tea, tidying up... then it would suddenly go quiet and NOOOO!!! They'd be fast asleep on the floor 😭😭😭
