So DH intermittently has weeks or so of bad snoring, but it's got really bad so that in the last month there's only been one week without it, and I had to spend most of our holiday at Christmas sleeping one of the kid's bedrooms to get away from it.
Earplugs mostly work OK, but there's only so many nights in a row I can wear them before my ears become sore, and sometimes my throat gets inflamed too. They're also no good if, as in the last 3 nights, he's restless and moving about in his sleep because they amplify every movement so even scratching his leg feels like he's trampolining in the bed next to me! And sometimes his snoring is so loud that it just cuts through the earplugs. I tried these silicon earplugs that were supposed to be good for muffling snoring and more comfortable, but they didn't block any sound at all, even though I'd fitted them as per instructions.
We don't have a 'proper' spare room - only a day bed in the front room which is relatively noisy and not dark enough, so neither of us can get a proper night's sleep in it and I usually end up going there because I'd prefer dealing with my own tiredness rather than his!
We will build a loft extension one day, whereupon we will have a spare room for me, which is probably the only answer in the long run, but that's years away at this rate. Any advice in the meantime? He's going to the GP on Friday about it, but he's been before and there's not been any useful answers.
