Where do the sheets come from?

In films and TV, when there is a sex scene and the use a sheet to wrap around themselves. As if! Sheets on the bed, are on the bed. Even if you do that odd top sheet thing it makes no sense. It would have to be fully untucked. Then you would need to unsexlily stand up, fold this super king size sheet and wrap it round yourself. Am I missing something? Or is this another case of totally made up stuff that never happens in real life.

The same sheet always seems to cover the woman's breasts and tuck in neatly under her arms, but just comes to the mans waist.
Magic for sure! Grin

I think typically American households dont use duvet covers, but 2 sheets with a "quilt" that isnt washed on top.

I find it even more incongruous when a couple are having or have had mad, passionate sex and the woman still has her bra on. Or when the man gets out of bed after clearly implied mad, passionate sex (again) and he's still got his underpants on.
At least with the magic sheet the idea of nekkidness is overtly signposted.

@JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi that's totally inaccurate. I am Canadian with family and friends all across North America and all of us use normal duvets with covers.

Some older fashioned homes will have show quilts sitting atop usually guest beds which are removed for sleeping. They are decorative!

We found that to be the case when weve stayed with friends in various areas across the US (admittedly over 10 years ago!) And it has come up on threads here before. It could well be area dependent with USA being a big place! It just seemed more of a norm there than here where its not a thing. I quite liked the feel of a second sheet when I was there!

Quite happy to be corrected though. I guess at least if its partially true it wouldnt be unusual to see it on TV?

We houseswapped with some canadians once (admittedly 20 years ago!) They had a huge gorgeous house but were intrigued by our duvet covers, it really wasnt something they'd used before....

( I can completely see I may just have random friends/ be hopelessly out of date though!)
