What is with all the poop?

When did it stop being poo and pooing and start being poop and pooping? I swear we all just pooed 5 years ago?

IMO it's yet another Americanism. But I may be wrong!

HolyMountain · 13/01/2019 19:05

Yes it’s an American term , I nannied in the US years ago and it was poop.

I prefer a good ol’ British poo.

Stephisaur · 13/01/2019 20:49

My phone doesn’t like the word pooing so I type pooping instead.

In real life it’s usually poo (or shit!)

Yes the triple vowels in pooing and pooed looks odd.

Somehow many people seem to think it is Pooh.

Poor little bear is being held responsible for a lot of crap. Education is lacking in some areas it seems.

LowbrowVictoriana · 14/01/2019 15:11

I refuse to poop. I steadfastly poo.

GallicosCats · 14/01/2019 15:22

And there I was thinking the poop was the top deck of a ship...Confused

LadyAprilLucy · 14/01/2019 16:29

Gallicos, the poop deck was called that because that's where the sailors used to poo into the sea.

GallicosCats · 14/01/2019 16:32

Really? You learn something new every day.

SoupDragon · 14/01/2019 16:41

No, it isn't. Although I wish it was. The name originates from the French word for stern, la poupe

nottakingthisanymore · 14/01/2019 17:27

We all pee now instead of wee and we pass instead of die.

nottakingthisanymore · 14/01/2019 17:28

And we go to the bathroom at the pub instead of the loo.

LowbrowVictoriana · 14/01/2019 17:36

nottaking We always used to pee in Scotland in the 1970s, it’s not at all new or American. We did wee wee too, though!

ChesterGreySideboard · 14/01/2019 17:38

we pass instead of die.

That can fuck off. I like a good old blunt dying, not ‘passing’. I’ll just about tolerate pass away.

OP posts:
nottakingthisanymore · 14/01/2019 17:44

Yes I know pee was used by some for years but it is loads more common now.

LikeACowsOpinion · 14/01/2019 17:50

Couldn't agree more.

I keep seeing poop/pooping and the most irritatingly, teeth-clenching one - pooh.
Pooh/poohing makes me want to cringe and scream simultaneously,

I wee, poo and when my times come I'll have died; not passed.
Passed where?! Angry

I thought the same as I opened a new bag of dog poo bags from Sainsburys yesterday (oh my glamorous life). They were Sainsburys’ own brand, labelled as poop bags ... it’s all wrong 😞

nottakingthisanymore · 14/01/2019 18:14

Now I’m pissed thinking about all these irritating things.

I see what you did there. Grin
