Why are antenatal classes so bloody last minute?

I booked the NCT and they allocate you a class on due date. I think mine was 6 weeks prior. I had them extremely prematurely and my babies were about 8 weeks old by then. I booked it primarily to make friends with kids the same age as I'm quite quiet and now I know no one. Surely if they held them earlier some of us who have premmies will still get included? No idea why they are so last minute!

That’s not how NCT worked in my area. We put in a request for the course we wanted, i got a reply saying the course the month before worked better with my due date, I said no as we will be on holiday for at least two of the sessions, they said fine! I was the first to give birth out of the group but only by two weeks. We also had a couple there who were doing it way too early and their baby is the youngest of the group by a whole month.

I wish I'd requested an earlier course. I just went with what they gave me.
