Who makes good washing machines?

My crappy zanussi has died. We’ve only had it 5 years (but 3 kids so it gets used a lot).

I’m open to recommendations :-)

I've had my Bosch for about 9 years now. Still going strong, however I had a chap out last week to descale it (water backing up into the drum). He told me that they were the best make, and indeed that's what he had at home.

Miele.

I’ve tried every male and it would have been cheaper to have just bought a Miele in the first place.

Never a hotpoint.

I didn’t get on with the Bosch either.

Basically every other make apart from Miele has only lasted a few years.

My Miele is 10yearS old and used at least once everyday, never had an issue with it. When we bought it we looked to see which used the least water/electric and it was miles better, I reckon I've had saved far more than the outlay

Candy.

I reckon I've had 7 washers since I've lived in this house. All makes and all seem to last about 5 years.
I now buy the cheapest bottom of the range machine. I only use 2 or 3 settings and the fewer bells and whistles the less there is to go wrong. ( As advised by washer repair man)

Miele, Bosch, Neff and Siemens.

FlamingJuno · 13/01/2019 17:44

I bought a new machine when we moved house two years ago. Chap in the shop said to get Miele, Samsung or LG. Miele was out of budget, Samsung out of stock so I got the LG and love it. It's quick, economical and super quiet which was vital to me as we're open plan.

MrsMarigold · 13/01/2019 17:44

Miele washing machines and vacuum cleaners are great but avoid Miele dishwashers like the plague.

Antiquevintageandrusty · 13/01/2019 17:44

I have only had three washing machines in thirty years - Bosch - inherited a built in Neff at my current house, 14 years old and going strong.

Hipposgoberserk · 13/01/2019 17:46

Tried every MAKE spellchecker, thank you. I don’t know what you’re trying to say about me Confused

StandardPoodle · 13/01/2019 17:46

Miele - get the lowest spec one you can. Mine came with a special offer of a 10 year guarantee too. The bad news is they are extremely heavy and the delivery men most certainly won't thank you!

PipsM · 13/01/2019 17:47

We were told Miele or Bosch when our Samsung died. If buying Bosch and can afford it the metal door ones are supposed to be better. Also not to get one with too big a drum as they break easier (or just don’t put too much in it 😂)

hugoagogo · 13/01/2019 17:54

John Lewis. Except I don't think they actually make them, but they are great and great value. I am on my second one, the first one lasted about 9 years!

BentNeckLady · 13/01/2019 17:58

Bosch are very good. We had our first one for 10 years and this one for 5. Only ever one repair (bra wire!)

Veronicat · 13/01/2019 17:58

Definitely a Miele here. I love it as much as I love my Shark.

Raera · 13/01/2019 18:00

Another Bosch vote
