Weed farm

It is becoming apparent that our neighbors are growing weed in the attic. Solar panels and very odd noises. The smell comes and goes, but now is particularly bad.
DH has his office in the attic. He also has allergies and problems with his sinus, so any strong smells really affect him.

What would you do?

Don't phone the police its a plant. Mention that you can smell it and ask them to look into getting a carbon filter fitted.

Thats what I would do anyway, I know pretty much nobody else will agree with me.

Weed doesn't particularly bother me, but there's a huge fire risk involved.

A trade conducted by criminals sometimes using trafficked people to mind the farm. Also potential fire risknas they rig up electrics to plug in lamps etc. C

It's a no-brainer. Inform the police. You can do it anonymously.

Check your electric meter, chances are if they are producing large amounts, they are tapping the electricity from another property. If it's someone just growing for their own personal use I wouldn't report them, but if they have a property full it becomes a fire risk.

So our establishment can benefit (the UK is a huge exporter of cannabis) but you want to push your neighbour to a dealer and criminalise him.

A few years ago there was a smell of weed in our street. We just thought it was people smoking in their garden as it was summer.

Turned out there was a weed farm in a house 5 doors down. We only found out because a rival drugs gang decided to rob it but got the wrong house. Our retired next door neighbour woke up to find his bed surrounded by men brandishing weapons demanding the drugs and money. He was ok but it could have been much worse.

If the smell happened again I would absolutely report.

You should tactfully mention it. We have neighbours that grow weed & I'd never dream of grassing them up (lol see what I did there!).
And you don't want to cause problems with your neighbours it could turn nasty.

I'd report it without any problem. As others have said it is a massive fire risk and also unlikely to be a friendly neighbour with a plant or two, it will be an organised gang.
We have had a couple of farms on our street in the last 5 yrs and also had a neighbour shot and killed by people breaking in (not a robbery gone wrong, they barged in with guns and went straight for him).
I wouldn't be putting the kids at risk by ignoring it. We have another farm nearby again but not sure where. Can certainly smell it though

I agree that I'd report it for the fire risk. Someone with a plant or two for personal use is one thing, an attic full where the smell drifts through is quite another.

It's difficult to say....I would not think they are part of an organised gang but the smell is so strong that I think it has to be more than just a plant or two. Plus we here very very odd noises which I am guessing could be some ventilation/watering system.

They are a couple, we almost never see them. At first I was not even sure if they lived there. When we do see them they are friendly enough.
