Any recommendations please? Trying to be more eco friendly with using soap but need a draining soap dish...

I'm after the same thing! Watching for replies. Tried Dunhelm but they didn't seem to have any.

CottonSock · 13/01/2019 13:19

This is why I have up on solid soap originally so following

PeridotCricket · 13/01/2019 13:21

The soap I bought was in tk max at £3.99 (a lot) but reduced from £20,, it’s not gold, so someone must make a dish to make i5 last longer...

I have this www.muji.eu/pages/online.asp?lan=uk&ShopSel=y&scrn=320&wndw=320&sec=17&sub=72&pid=1693 from Muji. Not beautiful but really works.

mumonashoestring · 13/01/2019 13:23

The only place I've seen them recently js John Lewis - you get a dish with holes in the bottom that sits inside another dish so your soaps not sitting in water.

AllTheProsecco · 13/01/2019 13:24

We've got a Joseph Jospeh one that drains into a section below and then you tip it up when you remember to empty it.

Haworthia · 13/01/2019 13:26

I have been known to turn my soap as it dries to make sure the underside doesn’t go mushy Grin

IloveJudgeJudy · 13/01/2019 13:26

We have the Muji sponge soap dish and in the downstairs loo we have an old-fashioned magnetic soap holder. I'll see if I can find a picture online.

Soontobe60 · 13/01/2019 13:26

I use liquid soap, buy big bottles from TK Maxx and decant them into a refillable pump but also dilute them half and half. For two of us, a litre bottle will last maybe a year? (And yes we do wash our hands lots 😂😂)

doradoo · 13/01/2019 13:27

I have these which do the job well enough

Soontobe60 · 13/01/2019 13:27

I do the same for shampoo and conditioner too.

DoodleLab · 13/01/2019 13:27

A clean, dry face cloth folded into 4 or 6 is what I use.

chipshopElvis · 13/01/2019 13:27

My in-laws keep soap on an upside down nail brush. It's genius.

IloveJudgeJudy · 13/01/2019 13:28

This is the kind of thing I mean. It's a cheap one, but there are many different types.

You want a soap magnet - no mush ever.

I wrap my solid soap shampoo bar in a clean dry flannel after use so it's completely dry by next use.

For hand soap Amazon has soap savers which essentially look like a sponge for it to rest on a dry. I've not tried them though.

Soontobe60 · 13/01/2019 13:31

These are what I use in the shower. They do them in white and grey too.

I have a wire rack in the shower which works well - I also have soap in a dish by the bath which doesn't get used more than once every couple of days as most of our washing is done in the shower. The one in the dish by the basin gets used often and does go mushy but I try and rotate them all every couple of days so that each bar has a chance to dry out andharden up before coming back to the hand basin again.

RedCabbageStains · 13/01/2019 13:43

I got a spiky plastic one from Amazon which is great. Look for InterDesign soap savers dish.

MissKittyCat · 13/01/2019 13:46

I have some little mesh bags which I think came with laundry tablets. I keep the soap in one of those and hang in the shower. You could take it out the bag to use but I use it still in - it makes it less slippery to hold and gives a bit of exfoliation!

JintyandtheJs · 13/01/2019 13:51

Eqlef soap dish from amazon

SamSpade · 13/01/2019 13:55

A waterfall soap dish. The water drains out the side. £2 off eBay.

hugoagogo · 13/01/2019 14:04

I have ones like these but mine were cheaper and from asda if I remember correctly, I have had them 10+ years! If I was buying new I might look for ones that aren't plastic, but I'm not about to try and replace them.

sycamore54321 · 13/01/2019 14:07

Another vote for the spiky plastic ones. Not the most beautiful object you will ever home but it keeps your soap perfectly and somehow rarely needs cleaning itself. And when it does, it’s a five second job to clean.
