School place

My daughter starts junior school in September so we've applied for a place and are awaiting a response, which comes in april. However we 're about to put our house in the market as a real fixer upper is for sale just outside of the catchment area. There's no chain on this property and the estate agent thinks we'll sell quite quickly, probably to first time buyers. So I'm wondering what happens if we were to move before April? The deadline for applications is this Tuesday so we have to use this address anyway but do we have to tell admissions if we move in the waiting period? Can the school revoke the offer? My main concern is her losing her place if we move. Any advice?

😊

The school place allocation will be based on where you live at the application deadline. You'll have to reapply if you move house and you'll be at the end of the list once everyone else who met the deadline has been allocated. Additionally, you can't use the address of the fixer upper on the application form until you actually live there!
But there's always a lot of movement in reception year so if you get her on the waiting list now you could well get a place in the first few weeks of term.

Thank you. I was hoping it would stay based on our current address as she has all her friends and her child minder is based on that school too. I might phone the school tomorrow and see what they say.😊

It is your address at time of application, ie your current address. The fact you move house after this date will have no affect

Ie, as long as you are living at your current address at the Tuesday deadline date - you will fine
