Walk-in for gum infection?

I think I've got an infection in my gum - it's sore and my cheek is quite swollen up. The problem is that there isn't an emergency dentist available locally and I have to travel on Monday. We do have quite a good walk-in centre for minor injuries and illnesses, however, which will be open on Sunday. Given that I probably need antibiotics, does anyone know whether a walk-in is likely to be prepared to deal with this and prescribe?

If it’s an infection- hot swollen painful and throbbing then yes it needs antibiotics
They may give a prescription but that’s probably all.

You really do need to see a dentist as a matter of urgency though

Oh you poor thing...that was me last Sunday I was in agony. Try phoning 111 as they gave me the number for an emergency dentist and I got a prescription for antibiotics. Flowers

Phone the walk-in, or Google out of hours dental services in your area.

There's separate dental clinics on in some walk-in etc.

I never knew this until I had a gum infection.

Thanks, everyone. It actually seems a bit better today in that I've been OK without painkillers, though it's still swollen and uncomfortable and no doubt I would regret it if I tried to eat anything on that side. It might be because I've been spending a lot of time swooshing hot salt water and Listerine around it. I suspect it will still need to be looked at but I think it can wait for the dentist on Tuesday or Wednesday, fingers crossed.
