MIL has told people we (our family and DH’s brother’s and sisters’ families) all went on holiday with her last year and are going again this year.
It never happened.
B/G: We went on holiday with the ILs once years ago) and it was hell on earth. They got drunk in the hotel bar and were asked to leave because FIL was trying to pick fights with guests, MIL complained the whole time about the lack of English speakers (we were overseas) and the food and the heat. FIL put DH down constantly. It was our treat and they were rude.
We said never again and meant it. We live far away and don’t even see much of them at all.
Anyway MIL has told me that she’s told people this. I think she has said it because there is a wedding this year and (if we go) someone might mention it. She was giggling about it as she told me as if it was no big deal.
How would you handle this?
